What is this all about?
TKOP started as a computer Bullitin Board System (BBS) on Jan 1st, 1991. It was originally inspired by a series of books by Robert Lynn Asprin. The BBS survived from 1991 until 1998, when the board was (Regretfully) taken offline after our daily calls dropped from 60 to 80 calls a day to 3. We had gone through the heyday of dial up BBS's and were finally done in by the internet. TKOP.com is a revival of that BBS, and a rebuilding of the community we all created during that time.

What does TKOP stand for?
TKOP stands for "The Kingdom of Possiltum." When I (Skeeve) first started using BBS's in the late 80's I had many names, but many of them were inspired by literature. When I was starting a BBS, I was closest to my Skeeve moniker, which was derived from a series of books, called Myth Adventures by Robert Lynn Asprin. Skeeve in the books was a magicians apprentice who wound up becoming the court Wizard at (you guessed it) The Kingdom of Possiltum. I felt rather like that, in the early days, as I was a simple computer user who had taken on the mantle of Sysop.

Who is Skeeve?
Skeeve is a geek/freak/pagan/earthy/crunchy human who lives in upstate NY. He mostly goes by Pgnblade now in many other places.

How do I join?
Anyone may join this community! Simply go into the forums, and click the "register" button. Follow the easy instructions to join. Once you submit it, the board will send you an email which will have a link for you to click to activate your account. As soon as you do that, you're good to post!

What's a BBS?
A BBS stands for "Bulletin Board System". It was a means of communication that involved open forums called "SUBS" (Or subjects) and private emails.

What is a Sysop?
A Sysop (Or SYS-OP) stands for System Operator. SYSOPs were the administrators of Bulletin Board systems. Always obey the sysop. ;)

How can I help?
Help is always appreciated, but specifically we can always use active posters! We're going to be using the ranking system to track posts and provide some rewards to those of you who are active on the board. You can also (after you become a court member) petition to host your own forum or sub! (It's best if you petition for a sub that isn't already taken, and is in a subject you have a huge interest in.) Donations are always appreciated, and will get you some special privileges here in the Kingdom!
