Zero's Friday Five
Star Trek, Terminator: Salvation... Lost Boys 2... Why is Hollywood raping my childhood? Why, Hollywood, Why?! Now I read rumors of The Goonies 2 and a bunch of other remakes and long forgotten about sequels and... well, I'll just say it. Have none of you in LA an original idea anymore?!

I've started to wonder why all the ideas for NEW things have run dry in the movie capital of America and I've come up with a few thoughts.

1. The Awesomo-4000: It is quite possible that a fat kid wearing a cardboard box and talking like a robot is coming up with all of the movie ideas recently and selling them to production studios for $100 each.

2. It's actually 1980: Ronald Reagan likely diverted government funds during his presidency to a secret project involving mass time travel, which created a paradox which make this actually 1980... only it overlaps with the 1980 we all know and love without directly inhabiting it, so the ideas are the same, but the faces have changed. This also explains why Republicans keep trying to put his face on money.

3. Studios funded by Kim Jong Il: North Korea is broke as a joke, but I think that's cuz Kim Jong Il sends all his country's money here with demands to see updated versions of old movies or he will fire nuclear weapons at us. He loves all of our show business crap, so why not keep it fresh and new forever and ever? After all, he just saw I Dream of Jeannie for the first time yesterday.

4. Conservative Agenda: I'm not talking conservative government here, I'm talking about the values in general. Conservatives, in general, don't like change. New ideas foster new revelations that could drive away the core and uninitiated masses. So, let's just keep pumping out the same stuff with fresh looks... and let's see if anyone notices.

5. Skeeve Did It: It's his fault. Blame him...

...for seriously.

Zero's Friday Five
No, I haven't died nor have I forgotten about my favorite denizens of BBSdom. That said, I feel that I am dreadfully late on the "weekly" updates I used to be so very much on time for once upon a Friday. So, this week in honor of lateness, I give you my favorite 5 quotes about... lateness, of course!

1. "There's no use doing kindness if you do it a day too late" - Charles Kingsley

2. "If a girl looks swell when she meets you, who gives a damn if she's late? Nobody." - JD Salinger

3. "Justice is like a train that is nearly always late." - Yevgeny Yevtushenko

4. "Be not sick too late, nor well too soon." - Benjamin Franklin

5. "Everything has been said, and we are more than seven thousand years of human thought too late." - Jean de la Bruyere

Now, go forth, TKOPpers! And don't be on time. :)

I. Like. Ceeeeeeeeereal!
Si. And I like potatoes!

The final episodes of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends are drawing to a close, if they have not already done so; this quote and odd link are cold comfort to the disappearance of so many fake creatures.

Spinnin' wheel got to go 'round...
So last summer, I took up a new hobby. I started learning to spin. Once a week, I'd go to a woman's house where several women would hang out, combing sheepy wool into fiber and spinning it in to thread or yarn on hand-held drop spindles.

They drop.

No really, especially during the learning process, those puppies drop to the floor like a rock. But they're made to handle it, and I've never had one break from such a plummet.

Twice, though, I've experience spindle-smash courtesy of our friendly neighborhood Tiny Emperor.

So for the last couple months, I've been talking to long-time spinners and scouring the internet, and finally happened upon this little beauty:

It's handmade in the south of red oak. It's under five pounds. It's double treadled, and well under $300 - double treadles usually start at $500.

There is a squeak. I look forward to seeking it out for lubrication.

No, it did not come with little stuffie sheep.
