Underhanded and Unseen
Prone and peaceful Laying quiet on her back Clear eyes quite closed Hands upon her breast are folded Something there beneath them glows Soft and pulsing Secret patterns Cast fanned out finger shadows Dancing puppets stringless capers What might happen no one knows.

This Week In TKOP! (Like you wanted more!)
Well, time has run short on my plotting and planning for this weeks this week. I had a long convention weekend and had to drive some guest home tonight, through snow and freezing rain, so... I'm just about done.
Links next week. Pity this one.

From this past week's prompts.
Consciousness was slow to return. First, it was just a dull pain, throbbing thickly in the darkness through which coherent thought could not easily move. He didn't try, not right away; the big effort was put into opening his eyes, muscles around his eyelids twitching. The feeling of his lashes fluttering against his own cheekbones was almost hypnotic, but not so much that it kept them from finally lifting.
And slamming shut against the stab of light. Why was it so bright, didn't people know to leave someone in the dark when they had a headache?
Then what he'd seen before his eyes had closed again registered, and he recalled the reason for the headache. "Mindy..." he croaked, vaguely horrified deep in his spinning mind at how hoarse he sounded. Had he been screaming?
Carefully his eyes slid open, squinting now as they took in the sight of the gleaming red polished leather boot toe in front of his nose, and traveling upward from there. The sight of shapely legs blurred dizzily as he twisted his head to look up at her, mouth quirking as best it could into an attempt at a smile. Wasn't as easy as he would have hoped, though. Felt like someone had injected cotton padding and glass shards into them.
No such thing with her though; honey-colored bangs shifted across her forehead as she looked down at him, a normally full and sensuous mouth drawn tight with her lips pressed together. "How've you been, bab-"
An expensive toe pounding into his ribs cut the affectionate term short.

This Week In TKOP! Now with more nuts!
First and foremost I'd like to direct your attention to Sony's latest piece of shit, that doesn't fucking work. (Credit to blaarg)
We can top that off with a bit of thisiswhyyourefat.com
And then pray to your gods (They really cannot help you now)
Thinking about it isn't much a solution either.
Asking someone famous might just get you ridiculed. (Brent Spiner (Data on StarTrek next gen) asks Patrick Stewart (Jean Luc Picard on the same show) some questions at a convention last year.
And remember when getting a meal to cook it fully first!
Or you could make cookies based on your old 8 bit games...
Of course, then there's always the discussion over what the next big internet meme is.
And this part is just for the weirdness factor... (Those crazy Germans...)
And I leave you with a moment of silence...

From this week's Daily Writings.
A step. Slide forward, sole to the ground Skin still soft, sand slices sometimes. Slow, stop. New ground underfoot, alien at first. Grain to skin cell, learning and warming. Solid. Stay. Step... Smoothly over newly known Sweeping onto strangeness Even less certain One wobbles; Hand lift sharply, reaching out Seeking support. Left hand, home. Right hand, work. Finding family Clutching coworkers Moving forward betwixt and between Duelling desires. Business lunch, family dinner. Alphabet song, number crunch. Stepping up, first step, Bandaids, bleeding edge, Power suits, diapers Small and cute Quick or dead stop. Stand. Step. Swaystop. Step. Step.

This Week In TKOP!
Well, it's been a week of ups and downs. But this week we have some fun links and happenings!
Zungadon came last week for the first time in a long while! Sadly, as these things do, it did not last.
And while we're at it, let's get the FAIL out of the way:

And the Verizon math fail video.

My iPhone infection seems to be spreading (I actually blame this on seuratt, as he had his first... but since he's hardly on here anymore...) with blaarg getting one this week, the options have been hysterical. (Kudos Wildfire)
I found the best umbrella...
And because this week is Valentines I leave you with this site, to help spur your potential relationships only the truly dorky ever attain!
See you in 7

Zero's Friday Five
Last night, while surfing the vast internets, I became probably one of the last people to read about poor old Michael Phelps, who is currently on the bad side of the latest "Drugs In Sports" scandal. Only, he's not juicing. He's toking. Yup, our Olympic swimming hero burns it up That 70's Show style, and because he thought it'd be cool to have his picture taken puffing the magic dragon, he's lost his sponsorship deal with Kellogg's, been suspended from competition with Team USA (without pay) for 3 months, and may not compete in the 2012 Olympic Games...
...and you thought you had a bad trip story.
But, really, as someone who doesn't have any first hand experience with pot, but plenty of second hand experience, I have to ask: Is this really that big a deal that a young, american suburbanite man whose job is swimming occasionally hangs out with Jerry Garcia's ghost? Consider:
1. Kellogg's - You're dumping a guy who smokes pot because (and I quote), "It is inconsistent with the image of Kellogg's". Right. Like breakfast cereal is all that popular with tweens and twenty somethings who DON'T get high. Apart from chips and funions, you guys produce some of the top choice munchies out there. I think you should embrace this so-called controversy and just make a new commercial featuring Michael Phelps in a hazy, smoke filled room, sitting on a couch with some friends. Let them just giggle a lot at nothing, and pass a box of Fruit Loops around. Then throw in some tag line about how it's "The High Choice" or something. Look, I'm not in marketing, but that would move a lot of units, I'm sure.
2. Team USA - Suspend him for 3 months? Gee, I wonder if he'll use all that new found free time to, I don't know, get high?! Don't you know that pot smoking and slackers have been linked (perhaps unfairly at times, but still) since God-knows-when? If you really want to curb the guy's behavior, you need to give him MORE to do, not tell him to go home for 3 months of daytime TV and sleeping until 11am. Think before you do these things, would you?
3. Hypocrisy - Look, I know not everyone out there smokes the weed. I don't (believe it or not). But, I know damn well that plenty do and they keep it under wraps. It is my estimation that Kellogg's and Team USA employ many a pot smoker. So, Phelps took a picture smoking up. Okay, not the brightest bulb in the lamp, but that's one of the reasons he swims and, let's say, isn't also a doctor. He's a mushmouthed momma's boy from Rancho Cucamunga, I mean, what did you expect? Thousands of kids, younger than him, post pictures on the internet everyday of their pot smoking, vodka drinking, semi-nude party habits when "the parents aren't looking", only to become shocked that maybe that "locked photobucket" wasn't as secure as they thought it was (thanks, fusker). So, I have to ask, is this maybe a case of wanting to tear down someone who inspires people (HA!) because he's... human? Again, we're not talking performance enhancers here, we're talking about weed. And I'm sure he's not the only guy in your basement sitting in the circle. Puff, puff, give, turkeys.
4. The 2012 Olympics - Fine. Don't Compete. Give someone else a chance for chrissakes.
5. Photoshop Experts - Now, I'm not suggesting that Phelps' picture was doctored in any way. However, I think it would be hilarious for everyone in the world who is talented behind the keys and mouse of Adobe's Photoshop to start popping hookahs, blow, heroin needles, etc. into the photos of athletes everywhere and popping them up on the net. Give these sports watchdogs some real work. They'll have to investigate every one to make sure they're not authentic. I mean, that is unless they want to appear like a witch hunt organization instead of a legitimate governing body. I say make these people earn the paychecks they seek to take away from guys who play games in the pool, on the court, or in the field for a living. Between you and me, it's been way to long since I've had a good Javelin controversy to read about.
What a long, strange trip it's been. You are now free to bring snacks to the TKOP.

One step
I've been working on a writing project, trying to write a prompt a day; this is one of my recent projects, for a little something to disperse the midwinter blues.
It’s just one step. One of many, but just one. The first one. In so many other directions The world stretches away And away I could go. But there’s still that step Stopping me from stepping away. Just one step. One step could change everything Perspective lifting and shifting Make me see the world differently Whether I want to Or not. It is like the first moment Of pen set to paper Or the breath just before a song – Loaded with potential. There’s everywhere to go but up. And up, and up, as step leads on to stair. Because it will change things. Because it’s there. Just one step. Just one Step.

This Week in TKOP: The guest series
Welcome to THIS week in TKOP by blaarg, this week hosted by Skeeve.
That's right, I'm here to help.
So, first and foremost in this week in TKOP we had some talk about pigskins, had some funny commercials, had a new user to the TKOP chat show up (Hey Cold! (aka- Dinerinfunitum, aka- Youwillneverguess, aka- Speigeltown.))
TFRL will return this week... As will all the other blogs, or I'll just take them over too... Um, I mean... Ahem... Help out there too.
See you in 7 with some links and happenings!
