In which Bliss pretends to be as cool as Wormhorn
...if only Wormhorn's vids were this silent. Ahem.
If I were to break this video up in to three movements, it would be as follows:
1. Is this thing on?
2. Shinything goes flash!
3. So guess what I did Friday night?

#39: Doorknob Redux
I still am not having time to give even this weekly strip the time it needs. I suspect that eventually I will start recovering more free time, but until then, we have rushed strips.
If you're scratching your head at this one, check out the very first Odder than Artifice ever.
The thing about kids is, they have this weird ability to spark off and totally extinguish the worst stage fright of your life in one fell swoop. There you are, helping them into pyjamas, brushing teeth, tucking them into bed.
And there they are, turning over to look up at you with wide dinnerplate eyes you swear shouldn't exist outside of anime, asking with eager hope, "Tell me a story! I want a song!"
Snippets of songs you sang day in and day out as a child flash their lyrical knickers at you and hide behind the curtains of your mind. Stories that you knew by heart, reciting along with your own mother, teacher, librarian, offer you catchy little snippets but refuse to give it all up.
They want, and for the life of you nothing comes forth, and you have to stall for time. "What kind of story do you want?"
"Farm!" "Piggies!" "Garbage!" "The Moon!" "The one with the boat!"
And by some weird miracle, these tiny answers tease one of the recalcitrant tales out of hiding, and you can smile, and slide down on the side of the bed to rub the child's back, stroking hair and coaxing slower breathing.
"Once upon a time..."

#38: Saving Time
If possible I had less time to do the comic than last week...ugh. Maybe I need to combine more words...
Joe co-wrote and directed the strip. He's probably going to be getting more involved since I have so little time lately.
And last but not least, RIP, Michael Crichton. (courtesy Wildfire)
It's a short one this week, as most of the links posted were for the election, and are thus stale by now.
Until next time...

#37: Love is Blinded
I sort of feel like I ought to apologize for not spending too much time on this strip. I was busy participating in history and starting a somewhat demanding new job. I also have the post scheduled for 7 instead of 7:30 so I can make sure it posts before I leave for work.
This strip actually has some nice details with the Skirbles...not that you can actually see it. If we don't have a Skirble close up in the next strip, I will certainly post it as bonus material.
Also, to the extent that this comic has a plot, this one brings together two of the major story arcs...so maybe it's not such a shoddy strip.
As of this writing, the local polls have been closed for nearly two and a half hours, and like the setting sun, the closing time has crept with slow but inexorable surety across the county. I've spent much of this time constantly updating three sites tracking the results as precincts made their reports, cherishing the eager flutter in my stomach as the maps updated. Blue, blue, a wash of blue like a paint can spilled upon New England. Red, red, bleeding through America's heartland down the center of the map.
But it was not the thick of these colorsplashes that held my attention the most - it was those states at the edges, the spatters and outliers that I watched with great anticipation. Pennsylvania. Ohio. Florida. Texas. California. Particularly the first three, declared up and down as utterly crucial for a presidential hopeful. Two of three were needed for one to have any real hope of success.
One. Two. Three. They all turned blue.
CNN called the race, and reported of McCain making a phone call to Barack Obama to concede, and just now his concession speech to his hometown crowd in Arizona has been aired. It was thoughtful, and incredibly gracious, far moreso than the chorus of boos that arose from the crowd.
"I wish godspeed to the man who was my former opponent and will be my president." - John McCain
So now George W. Bush is in that late stage of being a Lame Duck president, and we wait until January for Mr. Obama to be inducted into office. If you get impatient, you can always check here to see if it's happened yet.
