May this year be the best you've ever had!

Happy New Year TKOP!

Zero's Friday Five
Maybe it's much too early...

Thursday, December 27

Deck the what with... what?
What is the winter without holidays, snow.... and sickness?

We've been getting our fair share and then some at Casa Del Skeeve&Bliss, and the latest round has been what seems to bee sinus infections. Last night was in interesting array of not-quite-feverdreams and tossing and turnings and angry moments of Goddamn You Pillow Where Is Your Cool Spot *Flip Flip* (tm).

This morning? Snorking and spitting was green stuff mixed with red stuff.

Very festive.

Merry Christmas!

Monday, December 24

T'was the night before Christmas!
And the Vacuum cleaner is running, as is the dish washer, and clothes dryer. As we prep the house for the Family and our first ever hosted Christmas day.

The little Admiral and the Tiny Emperor are up in bed and one assumes that visions of sugar plums ensues.

We had some music time as I pulled my guitar out and hammered out some songs... Been missing that. Lane got his Guitar out too, and "played" it next to me, with the butt on the floor and the headstock in the air like a upright bass.

MommyBliss and TTE baked some cookies, and then after a bath and a reading of T'was a night before x-mas and then the kiddos were hustled up to bed and we began the cleaning and last minute wrapping.

Hope that all your days are Merry and Bright, and next week we'll see you for the last blog of the year!

Zero's Friday Five
Christmas is Tuesday. Just thought you should know. You only have a few more days to get me that Maserati you promised me. Speaking of gift ideas, I know what some of the TKOPpers are really, really, really hoping for under the tree this year. So, if you're looking for some last minute, extremely good gift ideas, look no further than the Friday Five.

1. Skeeve & Bliss - A second Guitar Hero III controller for the Wii. Skeeve and Bliss want to jam together. They want to jam together hard, and pull on each other's tremolo systems. They want to rock out to Poison's "Talk Dirty To Me" on Easy, and then laugh hysterically at the assured failure that is "Reign In Blood" on Expert. And if you understood any of that... YOU ROCK!!!

2. Zung - Zung needs a map of the internet, so he can find his way back to the TKOP from whatever DIY hand puppet site he got lost on.

3. Unl33t - A computer that is so fast and so smart that it actually fixes other computers just by being placed next to them. Spyware, Virus, and Adware free; completely wireless everything, input and storage based on psychic link to user, and an audio interface which uses the voice of Joshua from WarGames. It may also need a sexport because Unl33t may try to get a little handsy with a computer that cool. But, hey... to each their own.

4. Me (That's Zero to the n00bs) - I would like a picture of Superman having butt sex with Clark Kent, of Batman teabagging Bruce Wayne, and of Wonder Woman getting a tattoo of Donna Reed on her "special place". Yeah, I know it's a little bit... shall we say... disturbed, but if I can't be honest with you guys, I can't be honest with anyone.

5. Spammers - The TKOP spammers would like a wild gorilla with AIDS that they can keep in their rooms, and when they get the desire to spam our board, the gorilla can instead anally rape them. Yes. This is what they want. I have it on good authority.

Apologies for the awful grammar. Maybe I just need some writing guides for Xmas.

Happy Holidays, Ya'll!

If all the cars in the United States were placed end to end, it would probably be Labor Day Weekend.*
One of the things that I've come to realize about myself as I've been coming to terms with being a grownup is realizing just how very much of my parents' sayings, habits, and such have become a part of my life and being. What comes currently to mind, given the way my day went today, was the way they were with cars.

Thinking back on my growing up, my teenage years, and even since I've moved out, I notice that rarely did my parents keep the same vehicle for more than a couple of years. One to three years, a car would live in our family, and as it neared the point of becoming less a "pre-owned" vehicle and more a "used" vehicle, down to the Foreign Imports place we'd go.

They were actually fun and exciting trips, where we'd walk the lots trying out the fit of any number of different vehicles - cars, vans, etc. Once, I remember test-driving a jeep wrangler. Mom and Dad in front, and me and Zelda and Penman squeezed on the tiny metal seat in the back.

Whatever we tested, we'd always find something, and phone calls would be made, papers would be signed, and we'd drive off the lot with something 'new' to have for the next 2-4 years.

As of this past January, I've been driving for ten years. I've actually owned vehicles for the past 7 - 3 different ones, in that span of time. The black pickup truck, the silver convertible, and now the blue PT Cruiser (which this morning had something hanging down underneath it, and had to go into the shop - dangly shielding got screwed back up and the brake fluid and oil topped off).

They had it right in Breakfast Club. It's inevitable. We become our parents.

Looks like the right time of year.
Ah, the snow is here... The lights are up... The tree is full... Little sappy... ; )

The Holiday specials are on TV

The TKOP party went off VERY well, it was wonderful seeing you all again, and the minute I get the chance to upload the pics I'll post them, but the last couple days have included digging out, putting in a heat tape wrap in a godawful crawlspace (that didn't actually fix the issue at hand) two sick kids, a sore wife and my own sleepy unwellness.

Ah, but this time next week I get the best present ever... Holiday celebrations with the family AND a week off from work. *YAY!*

Ok, off to bed. May you have vision of plums and sugar and whatever. ; )

See ya in 7.

"Hey, Obsessed Diablo Girl!"
There are worse things to be called.

But yes, in a fit of I-don't-know-what, I've gone and reinstalled Diablo II. Not even with the expansion - just basic, no frills, v1.00 on the load screen, Diablo II.

I came very late to the House of Bliz - I was never huge into the original Warcraft series, never touched Starcraft, and didn't actually get into Diablo I until 2000, Three and a half years after its original release and close to when pre-release buzz was really ramping up around the sequel.

I have fond memories of DII for several reasons, not the least of which being that it was one of the first games Skeeve and I really got into -together-. I remember how the cinematics totally blew me away upon initial installation; the intro and interspersal scenes had us spellbound every time we completed a level and moved on to the next.

We played all the way through one level of difficulty and most of the way through the next before our attention wandered elsewhere - might've been the Sims, might've been City of Heroes, I don't really recall now which it was that drew our interest completely - and Diablo II and Blizzard things fell by the wayside.

Then Zung told us that we had to forget all about CoH and join him in their newest offering, World of Warcraft. That's right, I blame WarCrack on him.

But this week I found myself yearning for something simpler and familiar, and so yesterday I popped the DII install disk in my machine. Playing the game is like refamiliarizing myself with an awkward but endearing old boyfriend after having moved on to a flashy long-term affair with a sleeker, more worldly cousin.

I've got two quests left before the first section of the game is finished, and I am ridiculously excited about it. Only one thing could improve my happy right now, since I've gotten pretty easily back into numbered hotkeys for my healing potions and the awkwardness of point-and-click mouse-driven movement:

How do I shrink the map overlay into a minimap?

Zero's Friday Five
I'd like to tell you five things I learned while hanging out with RoxanneM last night.

1. The Trans-Siberian Orchestra is in fact, NOT an actual orchestra.

2. RoxanneM uses a Blackberry. WOOT!

3. I can find my way home from Pearl Street even when police direct traffic in a direction that is unfamiliar to me.

4. Not all people who choose to have mustaches are douchebags, just most.

5. Pizza is even more delicious past midnight.

I wish....
Ever since I was little, the impending holiday season meant it was time to create that time-honored piece of seasonal literature: The Wishlist.

When I was still in single digits, and therefore had the attention span of a flea (take my current "Oooh shiny!" method of concentration and shorten it by a percentile or two), I couldn't often remember from day to day what it was I thought I wanted. Therefore, creating the wishlist meant snagging the Sears catalog away from the magazine rack in the living room, if Penman or Zelda weren't looking at it already (Did you guys know my siblings are on here? Yeah, we pwn teh intarwebs) and fold down pages and mark off far too many toys with this color of pen or that.

When I got a little older, I realized that I was more likely to actually get things that mattered to me if I only PUT on the list things that mattered with me.

Bit by bit, year by year, the list has compressed, compacted, and it's become increasingly difficult lately to even begin a list. I've really begun to live the idea that the things on the list should matter.

The things that matter to me now? They don't fit on a list.

Happy Dreidel Days:
May all those that celebrate have a Happy (C)Haunuka. Spin the tops and light the candles.

For the goy, remember, there are only 22 more shopping days.

Kwanzaa? December 26 -- January 1

Yule is Dec 22nd

May all your Holidays be merry and bright.
