Zung's Wednesday whatever
My goodness, was yesterday Wednesday? Well, let me just slip this entry in a bit late, drop a couple links, and I'll be on my way.
I'm quite keen to share some videos with you.
The first is a flash animation: Michael Quest III. Jacko in the world of famicon. Will he save the day?
The other is a series of videos you can find at this website, captured from a XBOX gaming session, where a nasty little kid fights with his mom over the headset. It's quite enjoyable. If you like that sort of thing.
Oh, and here's a trailer for a little film coming out this December. It's by someone named Peter Jackson? The title sounds familar too. King something? Oh, thats right KING KONG.
Peace.

Skeeve eaten by baby: News at 11.
Yeah, this is the obligatory post from the new poppa. As I'm sure EVERYONE is aware, Bliss gave birth to our son this past Friday.
This means that I'm a bit distracted and overwhelmed to do much more than hold the boy, change the boy, help feed the boy and take pictures of the boy.
Right now I'm popping online to work on getting space to show off all these pictures of the boy, and say hallo! But I must disappear soon.
Take care all! I'll be back soon! in about 18 years.

Zero's Friday Five
The AFI thinks they can tell us what the Top 100 Movie Quotes of all time are? 100 one-liners from some of Hollywood's most well known flicks? What about all those under appreciated films we all love... aren't there lines in those films worth considering? I think so. And so this week I present my Top 5 Quotes From Films That The AFI Failed To Consider. After reading this, you should visit our "Your Favorite Quotes" Sub and post your own candidates for AFI's list. I mean... C'mon... "Show me the money!" is in the Top 25! What nonsense!
1. "Oh no, it's just that they're terribly comfortable, I think everyone will be wearing them in the future." - Wesley (Carey Elwes) on wearing masks in The Princess Bride.
2. "If it wasn't for dickheads like you, there wouldn't be any thievery in this world, would there? ." - Hartman (R. Lee Ermey) teaching Private Pyle the merits of keeping his footlocker secure in Full Metal Jacket.
3. "You gotta think about it like the first time you got laid. You gotta go: Daddy, are you sure this is right?" - Tank Girl (Lori Petty) helping Jet Girl with her self-esteem in Tank Girl.
4. "That's a very nice hat you're wearing, and I don't mean that in an Eddie Haskell kind of way." - Cliff (Matt Dillon) trying his best to compliment his on-again/off-again girlfriend in Singles.
5. "Wayne, I think we've established that "Ka Ka" and "Tukki Tukki" don't work." - Harry (Orlando Jones), with others, chasing a prehistoric bird through a shopping mall in Evolution.
...And there you go. That was actually kind of difficult, and I'm not so sure that I'm 100% sold on this list. There's just so many quotes to choose from! Join me in "Your Favorite Quotes" for more, won't you? See you there!

Zung's Wednesday whatever
Just barely making it across the finish line as the clock nears midnight, but here I am with my Wednesday... well, I guess I'll call it whatever. I've got some links to share today, and a little bit of venting to do.
I'm in the middle of critiquing some short stories for my creative writing class. It's really torturous. I'll be doing this every night for the next week too. 22 people in the class, and most of them are writing at a 8th grade level (I think I'm being generous). The class is ending next Friday, and we're reviewing each other's work as homework until then. I've got one more short story to read before I head off to a late bedtime, and I hope it's quick and painless. I'm trying so hard not to be terribly brutal in my reviews (watching my Scrubs DVD earlier tonight doesn't help with Dr. Cox's demeaning comments running through my head).
So anyhow, tonight I give you some choice videos for your viewing pleasure.
This one's a quickie. It's not Oscar material, but it's cute. Tom Cruise Kills Oprah
A prank involving waaaay too much time, 2000 super bounce balls, and an unsuspecting geek. SUPERBALLS 2005
This one's a slow load, and you'll probably hate me for linking to it, but if you've got the time and the connection speed, check out The Miracle of Life
And finally, leaving the best for last...
A clip from Late Night with Conan O'Brien. Triumph the insult comic dog VS. The Michael Jackson supporters. NBC has already asked IFILM to take this one down, so this link might not last long either. Good video...FOR ME TO POOP ON!
Enjoy.

Let's eat!
Summer foods are all very regional, but here in the northeast there's a fairly staple set of foods that seem to come out more in the summer. From burgers and chicken and hotdogs on the grills to watermellon and other fresh fruits. Salads come into thier prime this time of year too, as they're cooler to make and eat. And don't leave you with that stuffed feeling.
Having been a Navy brat, tho, I know that there are different regional fares throughout the summer. Exotic and fresh foods abound in different areas of this and other countries. I plan to post some of my favorite recipes for summer in the food sub. Won't you come join me?

Zero's Friday Five
Greetings! And welcome to another edition of Zero's Friday Five, your once-weekly source of... Well, I don't know what, but by God, there's going to be five of them! This week, I'm keeping it simple and presenting you with my picks for road trips: The 5 Fastest Driving Songs Sure To Get You Over 100mph On The Highway! Play these in your car, put your foot on the floor, and let the traffic violations begin!
1. Jesus Built My Hot Rod by: Ministry - Dig a dig dang my dang a long ling long, this song is fast! Ministry actually has another tune that's just as speed-friendly called "Thieves", but I went with "Jesus" because, even though I don't know what the hell the singer is saying, I'm pretty sure it has something to do with cars.
2. Ten In 2010 by: Bad Religion - It was featured on the Crazy Taxi soundtrack, immortalizing it as a song to drive recklessly by. Also check out Bad Religion's "Them and Us" for the same reason.
3. Ace Of Spades by: Motorhead - Arguably the song that began speed-metal. Motorhead is pretty much where it's at when you need to get somewhere in a hurry. That's the way I like it, baby. I ain't gonna live forever!
4. Macarena by: Los Del Rio - If someone else in the car with you puts this on and says that you're going to listen to it on repeat until you get where you're going, you have 2 options: Kill them or drive really fast. And you're not a murderer... are you?
5. I've Been So Mad Lately by: Butt Trumpet - There's something to be said for a girl with a tiny, innocent little voice screaming a non-stop string of obsenity that would make even the most foul mouthed among us blush. Tack an impressively chunky and fast guitar onto it and you've got a really good fast-driving song... That is, if you can keep your focus on the road while laughing at golden lines like "You can eat the corn out of my [expletive deleted]". Ah, Butt Trumpet. We hardly knew ye.
And that's that. See you next week with an all-new Friday Five!

Zung's Wednesday What to click
Hey boys and girls, I'm back in sydication. But don't worry, the guest blogs are still around. We're thinking of moving them to Thursdays (that is if we ever get another submission!). So as opposed to my usual rant I do here, I thought I'd try something different.
This week I'm offering up my round up of links for the eyes and ears. I can't post every thing I see in the Booty & Plunder forum, so here's a few that slipped through.
For your eyes, here's a fantastic group of photoshopped (it's slang Adobe! Suck it up!) M.C. Escher images over at Worth1000.com
For your ears I give you bzzzpeek, a cornucopia of international onomatopoeia. Want to know how kids in Greece make a pig sound? Or how Japanese schoolchildren say "Meow"? Warning, this is all about AUDIO.
And finally for your eyes and ears, I offer up BAITCAR.COM. Let me lay down the play by play for you. The Canadian police leave "bait cars" for people to steal. Then they track them down and arrest them. But they also installed video cameras and filmed it all (with subtitles too!). And they thought it was so cool they put it on a website. It's worth checking out to hear things like: "Lets steal a car, eh?".
Happy clicking!

Great expectations:
The potluck was a happy time! Thanks to all who came out in the swealtering heat and had fun and barbeque! The AC helped a little, but I don't think it was made for that many of us.
So, with the birth of the little one eminent, we've been spending more and more time (and money) in places where people buy baby things. I've been noticing alot of these things are now printed with "Little Prince" or "Little Princess".
I'm not sure if it's my upbringing, or just a reaction to the (somewhat) American blue/white collar ideals that we are all equal.. But it seems uncomfortable to me to think of someone claiming thier kid royalty. I mean... I'm not naieve... I understand that the child is a prince/princess to the parents, not to the world, but something in that set me off. I started ranting/rambling about it and Bliss pointed out that "Little Random Peasant Boy" wouldn't look as cute on a bib.
Today is my first day back after what will probably be my last happy naked sleep till noon vacation in a long while coming. I found myself lazing about, and often things of the upcoming time in my life would drift through my mind. Most frequently it would be "advice". My head is crafting the gems of wisdom to tell the kid now. I hear my Grandfathers voice... Or my mothers.. And I recraft these nuggets of truth into something I can pass along to my son, and he someday to his children.
Perhaps they will be princes. Princes all.

Zero's Friday Five
I've been in Maine this week, and it was good. But, I'm not here to tell you about my vacation. I'm here to tell you about how much my unwatered lawn died in the apparently blazing NY heat whilst I was away... No wait... I'm not here for that either. I'm actually here... yes, this is why... to present you with this week's Friday Five! This week: Five Reasons To Attend This Weekend's TKOP Meet!
1. Accountability - Yeah, you MF'ers have been hiding behind your keyboards and monitors, debating and flaming each other for a year since the last meet. Now, it's put up or shut up time. Time to come out, meet face to face, and own up to all that ruthless name calling and back biting... with Pirates of The Spanish Main, of course! Or maybe Risk... or Scrabble... or a Water Gun Fight... If there's a pool, Zung promises not to pee in it this time. I don't know what that has to do with anything. I digress.
2. Because Some Of Us Are Really Hot - You know who you are... and half of you are probably correct.
3. Because You Really Had Fun @ Last Year's Meet - Last year? Back in the days of BBSing, there was a meet every couple weeks. People would go just to hook up. Now we're all engaged, or married, or have kids, or dating Christy Turlington (way to go, Muddseye!) and nobody has time to get together anymore... well, fie on that! It's been too long since we all saw each other. I promise there won't be any hook-up pressure.
4. Doctor's Orders - I've heard somewhere that medical professionals suggest getting at least a few hours of social, outdoor interaction at least once a year. Brave the bears, scorpions, terrorist attacks, and (gasp!) fresh air, and come get yours this weekend.
5. The Play Is The Thing - Word has it that Skeeve and Zung have prepared a two-man, all nude reading of Hamlet that simply cannot be missed...
...And that's just a drop in the bucket of reasons that you should attend the friggin' meet. Maybe I'll even see you there... you know... if there's no bears or scorpions blocking my driveway that morning.

Black Cloud
I know I mentioned that I would do this zany Wednesday Whatzat blog, but since then things have been, well, down. I promise a fun, happy blog next time.
Last Thursday a friend died. Since then I've gotten top grades in my creative writing class, cut off most of my hair, bought new shoes and a new notebook computer. I still don't feel any better. I'm the type to buy things to make me happy. My father passed this materialistic personality on to me. It just ain't cuttin' it this time around.
All I can really say today, is that all that crap they tell you about making every moment count, never staying angry at someone, and all that seize the day bull? I think they're on to something. Life is beautiful, but it's random. I'm not saying you should live every day as if it's your last, but treat your loved ones as if it's theirs.
And call your Mother.

Sum-sum-sumertime
Having past memorial day, it's now (really, truely, finally) summer.
Get the bathing suits out.
Here in the great northeast the temps are now hitting the high 70's low 80's and eveyone os talking about how hot is is. Now, as a Navy brat I grew up many places and this? This ain't that hot. Seriously.
My memories of summer though seem to focus around the northeast. In California it was always the same... (I lived in San Diego. The only time of year that was different was the "rainy season" which when I lived there lasted about a week. Yeah. The week of Christmas.) In the northeast the summer was markedly different. It wasn't more of the same only hotter... It was the time of year for frogs in ponds and streams. Lady bugs and grasshoppers. I remember chasing grasshoppers across the fields around my uncles house. I remember the time that my cousins had us wait in a tent and made bear noises nearby so we'd be scared. I remember the barn cats and the ponies. I remember the loft at my uncles place, full of fresh straw. I remember the moist basement at my grandmothers, with all the old memorabilia of my uncles, including my uncle Miles, who flew a Corsair in the Pacific theatre in WWII, and dies of a brain hemmorage. I remember the playground/Boat my father built us. With the moat around it and we'd take our cars in there and drive them around. I remember cops and robbers, hide and seek, Doctor, Red Rover, and barbeques. I remeber catching fireflies in a jar, and watching them light for hours after. I remember rides in the old cars with the vinyl seats sticking painfully to my bare legs when I wore shorts. I remember crusing the north channel with my parents and grandparents, fishing and picking blueberries. I remember cream soda and Orange soda. I rememeber stick candy and pop rocks. I remeber paying a dollar for a movie matinee and sitting in the old solid theatre and watching Pete's Dragon, or the Gnome Mobile. I remember buying fish and hampsters at woolworths. I remember making a house for my hampster out of a shoe box. I remember raiding the garbage of the optical place next door to my grandmothers and getting handfulls of brandnew "sunglasses" (The disposable kind they used o give people who got thier eyes dialated) I remember swimming at beaches near oceans, streams and great lakes.
There is so much more I can remember... So many more memories... But for now, I think I'll go outside and make some more.
Please come join us at our TKOP picnic this Saturday! If you need directions, or have questions, please email Skeeve.

Zero's Friday Five
Pssst! Word on the street is that The King and Queen are looking to revamp the Wednesday Blog. Shhhh! Keep this under your hats or we could have an execution! I've heard that even as we speak, The Knights of The Round Possiltum are each on a quest to discover far off lands and riches to satisfy the Royal Court's desire for crescent fresh Wednesdays...
...Behold, Zero's Top Five Suggestions For The Wednesday Blog!
1. Extreme Close-Up! - Every Wednesday a picture is posted on the front page blog. It is an extremely close (but in focus) and cropped portion of something. It could be a body part, a soda can, a pipe, a basketball, anything. A new forum for the Wednesday Blog would be created in the Free Forums section, where TKOP Citizens could guess what the subject of the image was, and each following Wednesday, along with a new image, the answer for the previous week would also be posted. Citizens could also submit pictures to The Wednesday Blog.
2. The Baby Diaries - It might just be a rumor, but word has it that King Skeeve and Queen Bliss will soon be visited by The Stork. It could be an excellent opportunity to create a weekly guide to parenting, or just a weekly reflection of the ups and downs of being first time parents. This journal could also include pictures.
3. Eyeball Joking Off - Had to read that over, didn't you, you filthy pervert? Eyeball is our resident Jokes Sub Moderator, and although a busy schedule has kept him from us for a little while now, it would be nice to welcome him back with a spot on the front page blog. Every week he could promote the jokes sub with a few zingers... and it gives us all something funny to read when the mid-week blues start in. Of course, this same approach could be given to any of the forum moderators to promote their subs... a hot debate issue, cooking tips, music recommendations, etc, etc.
4. The Mighty Zung - When Zung went missing in the City of Heroes, I jumped in and stole his blog spot. Maybe now that he's been found he should get his position back... on Wednesdays, of course, because I'll fight to the teeth to protect the Friday Five and the position I rightfully stole. ;)
5. Guess Who! - This is sort of in the same vain as Extreme Close Up, only in this case, a weekly picture of someone's bare butt is posted on the main page blog, and everyone gets to guess who the butt belongs too. People throughout the Kingdom will be shocked to learn that those they would not expect have huge Battleship tattoos on both cheeks, or more hair than a wookie. It's just the kind of fun and deeply scarring humiliation that The Kingdom needs.
Additional suggestions, volunteers, etc, for the Wednesday Blog may be presented in The Throne Room.
