I don't do Mondays...
Apparently I'm bad at the whole Monday thing.
This week finds me working from 7:30 am to 10:30 pm everyday. I'm getting drained out from being here too late and dealing with questions upon questions that have little to do with the material at hand.
I don't have the time this week to keep up, but I should be able to tell you guys all about it next Monday.
Have a great week!

I announce New Blog!
I feel betrayed by my own country. Don't we remember what the Reagan years were all about anymore?
A charismatic actor pretending to be president led us in deficit spending, poor foregin policy, spin control, sluggish job market, Thacherism, the war on drugs, the Iran/Contra scandal, rebuilt the armed forces for them to be dismantled again and a slew of other wonderful choices.
It feels like there this Pantina of "Great Elder Statesman" surrounding Ronnie since his demise that just doesn't line up with my memory of the man. I don't think all of it is the "Don't speak poorly of the deceased... Although I'm hoping that might be what it is... Or nostalgia. I'm also hoping it's nostalgia.
Of course, We're not all being silent.

Call for PHOTOS & other things
Hey, Zung here with not your usual BLOG. I want to use this opportunity to inform all of you of some things going on at TKOP.
First, yes, we are looking for member pictures. Many of us haven't seen each other in quite some time. A current pic and a pic circa the BBS era is a great way to remember some familiar faces. Of course, not all of us were BBSers, so one current pic is fine. This is COMPLETELY OPTIONAL. It's just a fun way to get to know each other better. See the following link to the forums for details. Official request.
Second, our webcam section was updated recently, and some of us are trying to keep the live cam on as much as possible. More cams are welcomed, as we love to catch a glimpse of your lives (or fish). Send me a private message in the forums if you've got a cam you want to share.
Third, a "BBS Meet" is currently in the planning stage, and we will inform of the details/date when we know more. It will be in the capital district area, so we'll let people know in advance so out of towners can plan to visit then.
And Fourth, I'm currently working on a new design for TKOP. Sure, the medevial theme is pretty to look at, but it's not really what we're about. The name TKOP is an acronym for "The Kingdom of Possiltum", which is based on a series of fantasy books, and the name of the original BBS. But we're a different entity now, and I want to better reflect that. I also don't want to use as many images, since that slows down the load time. There are new features I want to incorporate into the new design, such as a "news and events" box on the front page, to let everyone know when the next group chat session will be, when a "BBS Meet" will happen, or if we need member pics (for example). When we get the new chat client going, I'd like to put another "box" on the front page to show who is currently in chat. Loading up the chat client just to find it empty has been a big deterent. The forums will look pretty much the same, but with a new border to reflect the new design around them rather then the castle tower. The new forum design might be open, rather than boxed in. This will allow people to post larger images, and long unbroken strings of text won't distrurb the integrity of the design, and Skeeve and I can stop editing your posts. :)
I'll be posting some preliminary images in the "Throne Room" soon, because I'd like some member opinions.
Enjoy the weekend. And God bless Ray Charles.

Flux
I've read in various places that humans are the most adaptable creatures on the planet; and while I've found this to be both a thing with positive and negative aspects, I can't say that it's untrue.
Jobs change; people get promoted, companies get sold, markets boom and crash (sometimes even in that order).
Relationships change; people fall in and out of love, lose touch with old friends, and gain new ones.
The world changes, really, in a myriad of ways that, to list them here, would be overwhelming. Suffice to say that the key to success is not what you know, nor who you know, nor your skillset, your earnings, your car, the contents of your wallet, or the results of the latest market research poll. The key is your ability to adapt - to, as it is said, roll with the punches.
The more things change, the more things remain the sam.
Only the strong survive.
[insert pithy Darwin/evolution cliche here]

Rambles and rumors...
We met the Reverend this weekend who will be preforming the ceremony for Bliss and I, and apparently passed the test, so we will be able to be wed in Sept.
It was a good relaxing weekend. Something we both needed and something I needed to make my life a bit calmer after Fridays little drama. We relaxed... Had fun... Ate out... Hung with family... We even got some more planning done. It was a good time.
The drive back was wonderful. We travel well together, I think.
And now, bed. For tomorrow I need to go into work and see what the hell is going to be happening to my life.
Hope everyone has a great week. And don't let the bed bugs bite.

Lysergic acid in the sky with diethylamide
Sir Paul McCartney has admitted in an recent interview that he used cocaine and heroin, and that some of the Beatles songs had references to drugs. Wow. What a shocker. He says that he was slipped heroin once in a joint, and used cocaine for a year, but was "never completely crazy" about the drug. It's sort of strangely odd how the human race is gradually defining deviancy down. President Clinton tried Marijuana, but "never inhaled". George Bush attempted to play down the rumors of his supposed cocaine use by subtly alluding it as youthful indiscretion: "...when I was young and irresponsible, I was young and irresponsible.", the same man whose political party is trying to play down the Iraq prison abuse as "not as bad as the terrorists."
There are many levels of truth. There is absolute truth, and everything else is bathed in some amount of bullshit. What I think Sir Paul is trying to say is: "Sure, I used dangerous and illegal drugs, but at least I didn't burn out."
In honor of his couragous admission, I give you a trippy flash animation of Come Together
Here's some other music related stuff...

I reduce my blog this week to simply this:
Everybody needs to stop writing books about (a) Bush, (B) liberalism, and (C) what they -think- is evil about the other side of the political spectrum. It's gotten ridiculous.
